McCaughan (L, 3-4) was allowed to start the ninth inning for the Nuts (22-28) and surrendered a lead off single. After a stolen base and a groundout, McCaughan was lifted after a career-high 8 1/3 innings with a runner at third.
McCaughan was charged with the run while taking the loss despite allowing just four hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
In the ninth, the Nuts had a chance to tie the game when Evan White smacked a triple off the left-field wall to extend his hitting streak to ten games.
