MONTGOMERY, AL - The Montgomery Biscuits (38-28) scored five runs in the first inning, and Logan Workman dominated in seven shutout innings in a 6-1 win over the Birmingham Barons (40-26) on Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

With the win, Montgomery’s magic number to win the first half is down to two. The club could clinch in tomorrow night’s game with a win and a Pensacola loss.

In the first inning, Bob Seymour and Willy Vasquez each homered to right field as part of a five-run inning. Carson Williams smashed a solo shot to left field, his 11th of the season, in the second inning to make it 6-0.

Logan Workman tied a career high with seven shutout innings. He previously went that distance against Birmingham on August 23, 2023 at Riverwalk Stadium. He allowed four hits with no walks and two strikeouts in his best start of the year. The right-hander has not allowed an earned run in his last two starts.

Birmingham’s run came in the eighth inning.

The fourth game of the series is on Saturday night at AT&T Field. Adam Leverett will make the start for Montgomery while Mason Adams is slated to start for Birmingham. The first pitch is at 6:35pm CT. Fans can listen on Sports Radio 740, MiLB First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
