Patteson Named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week

COLUMBIA, SC – The Columbia Fireflies, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball, are pleased to announce that Hunter Patteson has been named the Carolina League Pitcher of the week for the week of April 8-14.
This is the Fireflies first League Player of the Week Award of the 2024 season. Patteson was electric in his second appearance of the season. Saturday, he faced one batter over the minimum as he punched out seven Myrtle Beach Pelicans in five scoreless innings. This season, Patteson has been incredible. In one start and one appearance, he is 1-0 with a save and has 12 strikeouts in nine innings without allowing a run. The southpaw has a 0.11 WHIP and opponents are just 1-28 with a single against him.
Patteson was selected by the Royals in the fifth round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of The University of Central Florida. In his last season at UCF, Patteson was 2-1 with a 1.82 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 29.2 innings. This will be his first full season in professional baseball.
