BROOKLYN, N.Y. (May 23, 2023) - The Brooklyn Cyclones used a team-wide effort to take down the Winston-Salem Dash, 7-3, on Tuesday evening at Maimonides Park.

Eight of Brooklyn’s nine starters recorded a base hit, while all nine reached base safely. RHP Blade Tidwell was sharp, tossing five innings of two-run ball, allowing only two hits. The 2022 Mets' second-round pick also logged seven strikeouts while walking four.

Brooklyn wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. In the bottom of the second, 1B Chase Estep laced a double to right field to plate LF Omar De Los Santos for the game’s first run.

The Cyclones added to their lead just one frame later. First, LF Jaylen Palmer rifled a ball over the middle of the infield to score SS William Lugo. Then, one batter later, De Los Santos recorded his second double of the evening, plating the aforementioned Palmer and DH Stanley Consuegra.

Working with a 4-0 lead, Tidwell surrendered the only runs he gave up all night in the top of the fourth. 3B Wes Kath knocked in 2B Loidel Chapellí on an RBI single. From there, Kath then came around to score off an RBI base knock from C Michael Turner. With two runners on and two out, Tidwell then induced a flyout from DH Iván González to retire the side and strand two.

Brooklyn added two runs of insurance in the game's late stages. First, Palmer blasted a solo shot off the scoreboard in left center field for his second long ball of the year in the home seventh. Then, CF Alex Ramírez plated C José Mena and 2B Kevin Kendall on a 2-RBI double in the eighth to push Brooklyn’s lead to 7-2.

Winston-Salem would tack on one more in the top of the ninth when Kath scored on an error, but mustered nothing more en route to a 7-3 final.

The Cyclones return to action Wednesday at 11 a.m. for an early Education Day matinee against the Dash. RHP Cameron Foster (1-3, 4.78 ERA) is expected to toe the rubber, where he’ll oppose RHP Johan Domínguez (0-0, 0.00 ERA), who is on rehab assignment.
