Game Summary: Ryan Noda and Jason Martin hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning as the Oklahoma City Dodgers closed out their road series against the Round Rock Express with a 4-2 win Sunday afternoon at Dell Diamond. The Express (31-23) took the game’s first lead on a solo home run by former Dodger Zach Reks in the third inning. With two outs and Jake Lamb on first base in the sixth inning, Noda hit a two-run home run off the batter’s eye in center field to give OKC a 2-1 advantage. Martin followed and hit a solo home run off the roof of the equipment shed in center field for a 3-1 lead. The Dodgers (32-22) added a run in the ninth inning when Andy Burns scored on a wild pitch. Round Rock scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning and brought the tying run to the plate, but Dodgers pitcher Carson Fulmer recorded a strikeout to end the game.
Of Note:
-With Sunday’s victory, the Dodgers won their second six-game series of the season at Dell Diamond, 4-2. The series win was OKC’s sixth of the season overall as the Dodgers are now 6-1-3 through their first 10 series of 2022.
-The Dodgers moved one game ahead of Round Rock for first place in the PCL East Division standings and are now 10-4 in their last 14 road games and 8-3 in their last 11 games in Round Rock.
-The Dodgers hit back-to-back home runs for the fourth time this season, fourth time in less than one month, and for the third time in Round Rock in 2022. Sunday marked the second time this season Noda hit the first of back-to-back homers after he also went back-to-back with Andy Burns May 12 also in Round Rock…The Dodgers have now hit six homers over the last three games.
-Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy continued a Major League Rehab Assignment and played the full game at second base. At the plate, he went 1-for-3 with a walk as he lined a single into right field in the third inning. He also struck out swinging in the first inning and grounded out in the sixth inning. He started an inning-ending double play on defense in the eighth inning. Through two games with OKC, Muncy has one hit and two walks in six at-bats. Muncy was placed on the 10-day Injured List May 28 with left elbow inflammation.
-Jason Martin finished with a team-leading two hits, going 2-for-3 with his seventh homer of the season and a walk to end an 0-for-15 stretch. Martin has 32 RBI through 45 games this season and recorded his 15th multi-hit game of the season Sunday.
-Ryan Noda hit his eighth home run of the season and finished the series in Round Rock 7-for-24 with six RBI. In 11 total games against the Express this season, Noda has 13 hits, including three doubles and two homers, with nine RBI.
-Miguel Vargas doubled and has now hit safely in seven straight games, going 8-for-29 with a homer, three doubles and six RBI.
-Five Dodgers pitchers combined to hold the Express to two runs and three walks while recording 11 strikeouts. Starting pitcher Beau Burrows (3-3) recorded the win, allowing one run and five hits over 5.0 innings with three walks and five K’s…OKC allowed 17 total Express runs over the six-game series, holding Round Rock to two runs or less three times.
What’s Next: Following a day off Monday, the OKC Dodgers open a six-game homestand and a three-game series against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Tuesday is Bark in the Park presented by Sit Means Sit Dog Training as fans can bring their dog to the game. The first 300 dogs in attendance will receive a special commemorative dog bandana. Water and relief stations for dogs will be available throughout the ballpark. It is also a $2 Tuesday featuring $2 select beer, soda and bottled water from a line of Budweiser and Pepsi products. COOP Ale Works draft beer will also be available at a special rate of $3.
