Game Summary: The El Paso Chihuahuas put the Oklahoma City Dodgers in an early 8-0 hole before the Dodgers scored six straight runs and brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning in an eventual 9-6 loss Sunday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Chihuahuas got on the scoreboard with two runs in the second inning and added six additional runs in the fourth inning. The Dodgers broke through with a three-run homer by Sheldon Neuse in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Chihuahuas loaded the bases in the ninth inning and brought in a run on a RBI single. In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Dodgers drew back-to-back one-out walks to bring the tying run to the plate, but a pop up and strikeout ended the game.

Of Note:

-Sheldon Neuse hit his first home run with the OKC Dodgers, belting a three-run shot out to right-center field to put the Dodgers on the board in the fourth inning. He was optioned to OKC May 29 after playing in 28 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers this season. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned three consecutive unanimous Frist Team All-Big 12 selections.

-The Dodgers allowed their highest run total in 10 games Sunday after entering the game allowing two or fewer runs in six of the previous 11 games. OKC last allowed nine runs in a 9-4 loss in El Paso June 1.

-In the third game of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Garrett Cleavinger’s Major League Rehab Assignment with OKC, he allowed three straight singles to load the bases in the seventh inning, then escaped the jam with a strikeout and a double play to keep the Chihuahuas off the board in the inning. He joined OKC on a Major League Rehab Assignment June 7 after being placed on the Injured List May 18 with left elbow inflammation. He had appeared in eight games for the Los Angeles Dodgers this season, going 1-3.

-Drew Avans was the lone Dodgers player with a multi-hit game Sunday. He went 2-for-4 and scored a run for his third multi-hit outing of the season with OKC.

-The series between the Chihuahuas and Dodgers is now tied, 2-2. The Dodgers won the first two games of the series before El Paso has won the latest two meetings. OKC recently won the first series between the teams May 27-June 1, with the Chihuahuas winning the series opener and finale and OKC winning four straight games in the middle at Southwest University Park.

-The Dodgers have lost back-to-back games for their first consecutive losses since a three-game skid May 22-24 in Albuquerque.

-Sunday marked the Oklahoma City Dodgers’ first-ever Bark in the Park presented by Camp Bow Wow where fans could bring their dogs to the game at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
