August 10, 2021 – Wilmington, DE – The Brooklyn Cyclones and Wilmington Blue Rocks had their game suspended due to rain on Tuesday night at Frawley Stadium. The game was passed in the top of the 4th inning with Brooklyn leading 4-0 with the bases loaded and one out.
After a scoreless first inning, Brooklyn opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd. Jeremy Vasquez started the threat with a leadoff walk and advanced to third on a single from Luis Gonzalez that put runners on the corners. Tanner Murphy took advantage of the scoring change with an RBI single, his first since joining the Cyclones, to give Brooklyn a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom the third that lead would expand thanks to an RBI single from Francisco Alvarez that plated Antoine Duplantis and doubled the Cyclones lead to 2-0.
An inning later, Jose Peroza and Luis Gonzalez both reached to start the frame and Nic Gaddis followed up with a double that chased home Peroza and put a pair of runners in scoring position. Duplantis followed with a run-scoring single to push home another run before Jaylen Palmer worked a walk to load the bases for Ronny Mauricio. With the count 1-2 on the Cyclones shortstop, the umpires called for the tarp and the game was paused.
We will resume action on Wednesday from this stoppage point – bases loaded and a 1-2 count with one out and the bases loaded in the top of the fourth – starting at 5:05 PM. Following the completion of the suspended game, the regularly scheduled contest will be played as a seven-inning game.
Jaison Vilera made the start for the Cyclones on Tuesday and allowing just one walk while striking out a pair over his 3.0 innings before the game was suspended.
