The Winston-Salem Dash, in conjunction with the Chicago White Sox, are excited to announce the Winston-Salem Dash coaching staff for the 2022 season. Minor league veteran Lorenzo Bundy will make his debut as manager for the Dash. Danny Farquhar will return to Winston-Salem as the team’s pitching coach and newcomer Nicky Delmonico will serve as the hitting coach. Carson Wooten returns as the athletic trainer, while the Dash will welcome a new performance coach who has yet to be named.
Manager Lorenzo Bundy brings a wide range of baseball experience to Winston-Salem. After playing college baseball at James Madison University from 1978-81, he signed with the Texas Rangers as an undrafted free agent in 1981 and reached as high as Triple-A in his eight-year professional career. Afterwards, Bundy made the transition to coaching and has served at several different levels of professional baseball. Along with positions in the minor leagues, he boasts four stints as a major league coach alongside managing greats such as Jim Leyland and Bob Melvin. He most recently managed the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, in 2021.
Danny Farquhar returns to Winston-Salem for his second season as the team’s pitching coach. The Pembroke Pines, FL native was drafted in 2008 by the Toronto Blue Jays and spent seven years as an MLB reliever. He made his major league debut in 2011 with the Blue Jays and later pitched for the Seattle Mariners (2013-2015), Tampa Bay Rays (2016-2017) and the Chicago White Sox (2017-2018). He also spent time in the New York Yankees and Oakland Athletics systems. He finished his MLB career with a 10-15 record, 3.93 ERA and 309 strikeouts over 272.2 innings pitched and 253 appearances. Farquhar retired in 2019 and joined the White Sox organization as a pitching coordinator before eventually being named pitching coach for the Dash.
Former Chicago White Sox outfielder Nicky Delmonico makes his coaching debut as hitting coach for the Dash. Delmonico played high school baseball in his hometown of Knoxville, TN before being selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the fifth round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers organization in 2014 and later signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox in 2015. Delmonico made his Major League debut with the White Sox in 2017 and played at the major league level over the course of three seasons, knocking 18 home runs and 57 runs batted in.
Athletic trainer Carson Wooten returns after his Dash debut in 2021. Wooten hails from California and is a graduate of Boise State University. He has spent time previously with the Boston Red Sox organization as well as the Great Falls Voyagers, former rookie affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
“We are thrilled to welcome Lorenzo Bundy and Nicky Delmonico to Winston-Salem. It is a pleasure to have Danny Farquhar and Carson Wooten back as well. I am confident that this staff will put the best product on the field and give our fans an unforgettable baseball experience in 2022,” said Dash President & General Manager Brian DeAngelis.
The Dash begin their 2022 season with a three-game series against the Hickory Crawdads beginning on Friday, April 8. Ticket information can be found at wsdash.com or by calling (336) 714-2287.
