SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Missions Baseball Club is proud to announce the 2023 home opener festivities. Highlighting the pre-game events will be Mayor Ron Nirenberg throwing out the ceremonial first pitch to David Robinson. Members of the ownership group, including Nolan Ryan and Manu Ginobili, are scheduled to attend this event.
A flyover is expected to take place prior to the first pitch of the game. The flyover is provided by the Texas Air National Guard and will include two F-16s flown by the 149th Fighter Wing/182nd Fighter Squadron Gunfighters.
Gates will open to the public at 5:30 p.m. with the first pitch currently scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Upon entering Nelson Wolff Stadium on April 11th, fans will be treated to live Mariachi music from local group Mariachi Damas de Jalisco as well as local balloon artists from Elite Artistry. Children can receive complimentary balloon animals during the game.
Stevenson Middle School will be performing the national anthem and members of the South Texas Heat Baseball Academy will be standing on the field with the Missions prior to the game.
The home opener will be an AARP $2 Tuesday promotion. Fans can purchase $2 outfield reserved, bullpen reserved and berm tickets, as well as parking. Domestic draft beers, sausage wraps, Bill Miller Sweet Tea and cheese pizza slices from Sofia’s will also be $2 that night.
The 2023 campaign officially begins on Thursday, April 6th when the Missions hit the road for a three-game series with the Tulsa Drillers. The season opener is set for a 7:05 p.m. start. The Missions home opener will be Tuesday, April 11th against the Frisco RoughRiders at 7:05 p.m. That will be the first of a six-game series.
All of the previously mentioned events, including attendance from ownership group members, are subject to change.
The San Antonio Missions are the Double-A affiliate for the San Diego Padres. The 2023 season will be the 121st professional season for the San Antonio Missions.
