FRISCO, Texas (August 24, 2024) – Texas Rangers reliever Josh Sborz is expected to rehab with the Frisco RoughRiders beginning on Saturday, August 24th when the RoughRiders meet the San Antonio Missions (San Diego Padres affiliate) at 7:05 p.m. from Riders Field.

Sborz, who was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 7th with a rotator cuff strain, rehabbed with Frisco in April before returning to the Rangers. Right shoulder fatigue landed him on the 15-day injured list on August 11th.

The righty has been a part of the Rangers bullpen over the last four seasons. Across 16 appearances with the Rangers this season, Sborz has posted a 2-1 record to go along with a 3.38 ERA.

Sborz ranked 11th among American League relief pitchers with 11.35 strikeouts per 9.0 innings (min. 50.0 IP in relief) in 2023 and that mark was the highest by a Rangers pitcher since in 2019.

In game five of the 2023 World Series, Sborz recorded the final seven outs allowing no runs on just one hit while recording four punchouts on the way to a title.

The RoughRiders continue a six-game set against the San Antonio Missions (San Diego Padres) at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, August 24th. The Riders will turn to RHP Emiliano Teodo (5-3, 1.75) against RHP Austin Krob (3-10, 5.11) for the Missions.

About the RoughRiders

The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers and the 2022 Texas League champions. In 2023, the team celebrated its 20th anniversary and has consistently finished in the top five among all Double-A franchises in attendance yearly. In August 2014, the RoughRiders were purchased by an ownership group led by Chuck Greenberg. Since then, the new ownership group, together with the City of Frisco, has spearheaded numerous major franchise enhancements, investing over $8 million in a wide array of facility upgrades and improvements, including a state-of-the-art HD video board, sound system, Bull Moose Saloon, Bullpen Bar, Riders Outpost Team Store and the world's largest water feature in a sports facility, the massive Lazy River. These enhancements earned the Riders and the City of Frisco Ballpark Digest's prestigious "Best Ballpark Renovation" award for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016). More than 200 former RoughRiders players have gone on to play Major League Baseball including current Rangers Josh Jung, Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford.
