Orioles Walk Off Yankees in Spring Breakout
LEANDRO ARIAS (No. 20 prospect) delivered a walk-off RBI single to plate AUSTIN OVERN (No. 29 prospect) in the bottom of the ninth inning of Saturday’s Spring Breakout game to defeat the New York Yankees Prospects 5 - 4. Arias’ game winner was set up by Overn who laced an RBI triple down the right field line two batters prior, scoring DJ LAYTON (No. 30 prospect) for the tying run.
VANCE HONEYCUTT (No. 5 prospect) stole the show in the fourth inning when he flew around the bases for an inside-the-park home run, his first home run since joining the O’s organization. Speed was the name of the game Saturday as ENRIQUE BRADFIELD JR. (No. 3 prospect) flashed his wheels and 80-grade speed to start it off with a leadoff single in the first, before reaching third base following an errant pickoff throw, and then scoring on a wild pitch soon after. He recorded a single and a stolen base in the sixth before scoring on a DYLAN BEAVERS (No. 6 prospect) RBI single. JUD FABIAN (No. 23 prospect) showed his impressive speed with an outstanding running grab into the right-center gap during the sixth inning to rob T.J. Rumfield of extra bases.
Other notable prospect performances: SAMUEL BASALLO (No. 2 prospect) went 0-for-3 with two flyouts. GRIFF O’FERRALL (No. 7 prospect) went 0-for-2 with two ground outs. PATRICK REILLY (No. 10 prospect) tossed 2.0 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. LUIS De León (No. 14 prospect) threw a perfect inning in relief with a strikeout.
