Former Shuckers to compete with Brewers top prospects on Sunday, March 17 against the Royals top prospects

BILOXI, MS – Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball announced today on MLB Network the Milwaukee Brewers roster for the inaugural Spring Breakout, with 11 former Biloxi Shuckers named to the roster. The Brewers top prospects will compete on Sunday, March 17 at 2:05 p.m. CT against the top prospects from the Kansas City Royals at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona, the spring training home of the Royals. The teams will compete in a seven-inning before the regularly scheduled Brewers-Royals Spring Training game.

The 11 former Shuckers include Jackson Chourio (’22-’23), Jeferson Quero (’23), Jacob Misiorowski (’23), Carlos Rodriguez (’23), Shane Smith (’23), Justin Yeager (’23), Tyler Black (’23), Eric Brown Jr. (’23), Wes Clarke (’22-’23), Brock Wilken (’23) and Robert Gasser (’22).

Of the 11 players, 10 appeared in at least one game with the Shuckers in 2023. Jackson Chourio, Jeferson Quero, Carlos Rodriguez and Tyler Black were all named Southern League All-Stars during the 2023 season and Rodriguez was named the league’s pitcher of the year. The four Southern League All-Stars were a new Shuckers franchise record. Chourio, Black, Rodriguez and Gasser were all honored by the Brewers as the organization’s Minor League Players and Pitchers of the Year. Quero was also named a 2023 Rawlings MiLB Gold Glove Award® winner at catcher.
