BILOXI, MS – Behind a grand slam from Brock Wilken, two home runs from Wes Clarke and a seven-run sixth inning, the Biloxi Shuckers (16-15) won, 10-2, over the Montgomery Biscuits (16-15) at Shuckers Ballpark on Friday night. The win clinched at least a series split with the Biscuits and was Biloxi’s second straight win. Clarke’s two-home run game was the fourth of his career while Wilken’s grand slam was the second of his career.

After a perfect first inning from Shuckers’ starter Brett Wichrowski in his Shuckers Ballpark debut, Wes Clarke gave the Shuckers a 3-0 lead off his second home run of the year, a 351-foot blast to left. The home run drove in Mike Boeve, who extended his on-base streak to 12 games with a single, and Brock Wilken who tallied a hit in his fifth straight game. In the second, the Biscuits got on the board with a solo home run by Dominic Keegan, making it 3-1.

After the solo shot from Keegan, Wichrowski limited the Biscuits to a run over five innings. Wichrowski set a new career-high with five innings and 78 pitches.

In the sixth, the Shuckers extended the lead to 4-1 with an RBI groundout from Ethan Murray, scoring Ernesto Martinez Jr. from third. Zavier Warren extended the lead to 5-1 with an RBI single to right, scoring Darrien Miller. After two walks and a fielder’s choice loaded the bases with two outs, Brock Wilken smashed a grand slam on a 3-2 pitch to left field, making it 9-1. On the next pitch, Wes Clarke cleared the wall in right for his second home run of the night, extending the lead to 10-1.

A solo home run from Matthew Dyer in the seventh made it 10-2, but Sam Gardner worked a scoreless eighth and ninth, helping Biloxi to the win.

Wichrowski (1-0) earned the win for Biloxi while Logan Workman (0-1) took the loss for the Biscuits.

The Shuckers continue the series on Saturday night and are set to transform into the Biloxi King Cakes with specialty jerseys and hats. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at Shuckers Ballpark.
