BOWIE, Md. -- Jason Krizan hit two home runs and drove in five runs to lead the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to a 7-3 victory and a series win against the Bowie Baysox in front of 2,075 at Prince George's Stadium Tuesday night.
Binghamton (25-15) scored seven unanswered runs to take a 7-0 lead entering the bottom of the fifth inning, where the Baysox scored their first two runs to cut the deficit to five runs. Errors by shortstop Rubén Tejada and second baseman Luis Carpio allowed Preston Palmeiro to score the first Bowie run of the three-game series.
After a Ryan McKenna infield single, Rylan Bannon recorded his team-leading 18th RBI of the season by plating Mason McCoy on a groundout to first base.
Bowie (16-28) tacked on another run in the eighth inning. After a pair of singles led off the frame, Martin Cervenka sent a one-out sacrifice fly to deep center field to allow Zach Jarrett to score and close the gap to 7-3.
After RHP Dean Kremer went four innings in his first Double-A start of the season, the Bowie bullpen held the Rumble Ponies to two runs over the final five innings. LHP Brian Gonzalez retired the final seven batters he faced, while RHP Taylor Grover struck out a pair of batters and got a key double play with the bases loaded to record two scoreless frames.
The Baysox and Rumble Ponies wrap up the series and the homestand Wednesday morning at 11:05 a.m., when LHP Bruce Zimmermann (1-1, 2.61) and RHP Harol Gonzalez (3-0, 3.48) square off during the third Baseball in Education Day at the ballpark.
