7/22: Baysox Sweep Sunday Doubleheader

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox launched six home runs in 14 innings of baseball Sunday afternoon, earning a doubleheader sweep and a four-game series split with the Erie SeaWolves in front of 2,446 at Prince George's Stadium.

GAME ONE: Baysox 7, SeaWolves 1
Making his Orioles organizational debut since the Manny Machado trade earlier in the week, RHP Dean Kremer shut down the SeaWolves. The Stockton, Calif., native held Erie to one run on four hits with six strikeouts. After the Wolves scored their lone run of the game, Kremer beared down and struck out Isaac Paredes looking and Kody Eaves swinging. RHP Jay Flaa tossed a 1-2-3 seventh inning, extending his team-leading streak to 13.2 innings pitched without allowing an earned run.
The Baysox (44-54) jumped out to an early lead in the second inning. After Rylan Bannon recorded his first Double-A hit in his first game with the Orioles organization, Martin Cervenka sent a towering two-run home run just beyond the glove of left fielder Cam Gibson for his 11th long ball of the year. 
One inning later, Bowie erupted with some more home run power. With a 2-2 count and two away, Aderlin Rodriguez sent a three-run shot to deep left-center field. The first baseman's 14th roundtripper scored Ryan McKenna and Corban Joseph and gave Rodriguez 53 RBI this season.
The team's home run derby continued in the sixth inning. After the Wolves (47-51) scored a run in the top half of the frame, Anderson Feliz answered with a two-run shot to right field in the bottom half, scoring Rodriguez. The long ball was the first for Feliz since June 20 at Harrisburg.
GAME TWO: Baysox 4, SeaWolves 3
Corban Joseph continued the day's long ball barrage two batters into the first Bowie at-bats of game two. Against RHP Alex Faedo, the Baysox second baseman crushed his 11th home run of the season over the billboards in right field to give the hosts a quick 1-0 lead. 
Erie (47-52) would tie the score with a run in the third inning, but the Baysox would answer in the bottom of the fourth. With two away, Aderlin Rodriguez lined a double to the left-centerfield gap. A Daz Cameron fielding error allowed Yusniel Díaz to score, putting the Baysox ahead, 2-1. 
Cameron made up for his error with a two-run double down the left field line, giving the SeaWolves their first lead of the day. The lead lasted three pitches into the bottom of the fifth, though, as Rylan Bannon launched a no-doubter over the billboards in left field for his first career Double-A home run and a 3-3 tie. 
Entering the sixth inning without a hit in the doubleheader, Ryan Mountcastle launched a clutch solo home run down the left field line, helping the Baysox regain the lead and complete the see-saw affair. Home run No. 11 of the season for the Eastern League All-Star was the sixth long ball of the day for Bowie (45-54).

The Bowie Baysox continue their homestand Monday night at 7:05 p.m., when the Binghamton Rumble Ponies-Double A affiliate of the New York Mets-come to Prince George's Stadium for the first and only time in 2018. LHP Luis Ysla takes the mound for Bowie against Binghamton RHP Scott Copeland. Monday night is another Mutt Monday, where all dogs that are allowed into the stadium (as long as they have proper tags).
