PEARL, MS – In a series in which pitching has dominated, Tobias Myers carried the torch for the Biloxi Shuckers (58-53, 24-18), going seven innings in a start for the first time since 2018 and leading Biloxi to a 6-3 win over the Mississippi Braves (49-60, 16-25) at Trustmark Park on Thursday night. The win was Biloxi’s fourth straight and clinched at least a series split against the M-Braves.

After a scoreless frame, the Shuckers offense kickstarted in the second with a leadoff single from Wes Clarke. Ethan Murray and Zavier Warren both singled in the inning, and Carlos Rodriguez drove home two on a single to right. An error on the play allowed Rodriguez to get to second and Warren to score, giving Biloxi an early 3-0 lead. The M-Braves fought back in the third with a two-RBI double from Luke Waddell, but Myers kept the tying run at second with back-to-back strikeouts, ending the inning. From there, Myers dominated, striking out four and facing the minimum over the next three innings.

In the sixth, Ethan Murray scored from first on a Zavier Warren single to right with two outs, extending Biloxi’s lead to two. Myers finished out the sixth by retiring the side in order, earning him a chance to start the seventh for the first time in the second half. After the first two reached, Myers started a double-play and struck out his ninth and final batter of the night on a curveball, completing seven innings for the first time since August of 2018 with the Bowling Green Hot Rods in Single-A.

Isaac Collins added some insurance in the top of the ninth with a two-RBI single, scoring Carlos Rodriguez and Jackson Chourio. Chourio reached and stole second on his third hit of the night, his 35th multi-hit game of the year. Rodriguez also reached on his second hit of the night, giving him seven multi-hit performances over his last eight games.

In the ninth, Ryan Middendorf, who struck out three of the six batters he faced, was relieved with one out by Cam Robinson after Cade Bunnell make it 6-3 with a one-out double. Robinson stranded Bunnell on second in nine pitches, securing his 10th save of the year with a strikeout to Hudson Potts.

With the save, Robinson becomes the eighth player in franchise history with 10-plus saves in a season. Myers (7-4) earned the win while M-Braves’ starter Nolan Kingham (2-1) took the loss.

Righty TJ Shook is set to start on Friday for Biloxi, marking his first start against the M-Braves since he struck out a career-high 11 on July 3 at MGM Park. Lefty Luis De Avila will start for the M-Braves. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Trustmark Park.

The game can be heard on Cruisin’ WGCM 1240 AM, 100.9 FM with coverage beginning at 6:20 p.m. with the Biloxi Shuckers Pregame Show featuring the Mississippi Army National Guard Pregame Interview. The game can also be seen live on MiLB.tv.
