BOWIE, Md. - The Maryland Crab Cakes stormed back with three runs in the sixth inning to stun the Altoona Curve, 3-2, in front of 8,473 at Prince George's Stadium Saturday night.
Oneil Cruz hit his first Double-A home run to left-center field to give Altoona (29-34) a 1-0 fourth-inning lead via the long ball for the second straight game. A Cruz double was bobbled in left field by Cedric Mullins in the sixth inning, allowing Jared Oliva to score an unearned insurance run in the sixth inning.
Maryland (42-20) woke up offensively in the bottom of the sixth inning. Carlos Perez broke up starter Cam Vieaux's no-hit bid with a three-run home run to left field. His 14th long ball of the season scored Ryan McKenna and Anderson Feliz, who both drew two-out walks to keep the rally going.
Michael Baumann found himself in line for the victory following the Perez homer and earned the win by allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits with four strikeouts in six innings. Steven Klimek tossed a pair of scoreless innings, while Cristian Alvarado earned his 10th save with a perfect final frame.
Looking for the series win, the Baysox return for their final home game of the 2019 regular season at 1:35 p.m. RHP Tyler Herb (3-2, 4.75 ERA) faces RHP Beau Sulser (8-1, 2.48 ERA) on Fan Appreciation Day, where fans can get autographs from the team on the concourse, as well as play catch in the outfield.
