BILOXI, MS – Behind 6.0 shutout innings from starter Nate Peterson, the Biloxi Shuckers (60-62, 30-25) cruised to a dominant 5-1 win over the Montgomery Biscuits (72-53, 32-23) at Keesler Federal Park on Saturday night. The game marked the final time the Shuckers transformed into the Biloxi Beach Chickens in 2024, complete with specialty hats and jerseys.

The Shuckers started the scoring in the second when a double-play scored Eric Brown Jr. from third. In the third, the Shuckers expanded the lead to 3-0 with a two-RBI double from Connor Scott, his third straight game with a double. The next batter, Ernesto Martinez Jr., made it 5-0 with a two-run blast to right, his 12th of the season. The home run also extended his hit streak to nine consecutive games, with seven extra-base hits and three home runs over that span.

Lefty Nate Peterson carved up the Biscuits’ order on the mound after working out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the second. The start, his longest since April 18 against the Chattanooga Lookouts, finished after six shutout innings with six strikeouts on just 86 pitches.

In the seventh, the Biscuits struck with their only run, coming off a solo home run from Brayden Taylor, making it 5-1. Blake Holub then retired the Biscuits in order in the eighth and ninth, extending his streak to 22.1 innings without allowing an earned run this season. Nate Peterson (3-8) earned the win while Biscuits’ starter Adam Leverett (7-6) took the loss.

At the plate, seven of the nine batters in the Shuckers’ lineup tallied at least one hit, with Eric Brown Jr. (2-for-4) and Adam Hall (2-for-4) tallying multi-hit performances. Dylan O’Rae also recorded his 60th stolen base of the season between High-A Wisconsin and Double-A Biloxi in the fourth inning, becoming the 15th Milwaukee Brewers minor league player to reach the mark and the first since 2009. O’Rae also became the first to record at least 60 in a season while playing at least one game in Double-A or higher since Matthew Sferrazza and Mike Felder reached the mark in 1985 with Double-A El Paso and Triple-A Vancouver.

The series concludes on Sunday with first pitch at 5:05 p.m. at Keesler Federal Park. Adam Seminaris (1-5, 5.51) is scheduled to start for the Shuckers against Sean Hunley (6-3, 1.79) for the Biscuits.
