The Fireflies took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on Dan Rizzie's RBI double and a wild pitch. In the bottom half of the inning Rome came back to take a 6-2 lead on two bases loaded walks and a grand slam by Jordan Rodgers (2).
The Braves added to their lead in the fourth. With the bases full, Lucas Herbert launched a fly ball to right which dropped in for a base hit when Arnoldo Berrios lost it in the sun allowing the first run of the inning to cross the plate. Drew Lugbauer proceeded to walk pushing the second run of the frame to score and Anthony Concepcion then grounded out putting another run on the scoreboard making it a 9-2 game. Rome wasn't through and tacked on five more runs in the inning highlighted by a three run double by Riley Delgado and a two run home run by Isranel Wilson for the 14-2 score. By the time the game ended, Rome walked away with a 16-4 victory.
Troy Conyers (4-0) gets the win for Rome while Martin Anderson (0-5) takes the loss for Columbia. The game featured a total of 15 walks and every player in the Braves line up scored a run.
Rome and Columbia faceoff again tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. for the final game of the season.
