A's announce moves - recall Pitcher Kirby Snead, Infielders Sheldon Neuse and Nick Allen

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland Athletics recalled left-handed pitcher Kirby Snead and infielders Nick Allen and Sheldon Neuse from Triple-A Las Vegas and added right-handed pitcher Domingo Tapia as a substitute player, the club announced today. The A’s also placed right-handed pitcher Dany Jiménez on the 15-day injured list retroactive to June 19 with a strained right shoulder, placed left-handed pitcher Sam Moll on the Covid-19 list and designated infielder Matt Davidson for assignment.
Allen joins the A’s for the third time this year and is batting .174 in 10 games with the A’s. His most recent stint came from May 20-21 when he went 0-for-4. The 23-year-old right-handed hitter is batting .266 with two home runs and 16 RBI in 46 games with Las Vegas. Allen added 27 walks for a .371 on-base percentage and was 10-for-12 in stolen bases attempts.
Neuse was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was batting .228 with two home runs and 17 RBI in 49 games when he was optioned to Las Vegas on June 7. He hit .404 with four home runs and 16 RBI in 12 games with the Aviators following his option. The 27-year-old right-handed hitter was named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week yesterday after hitting .483 with two doubles, a triple, two home runs and 12 RBI in six games against El Paso last week.
Snead has no decisions, an 8.74 ERA and .400 opponents batting average in 14 relief appearances with Oakland. He was on the A’s Opening Day roster and pitched in four games before going on the restricted list April 15 and the Covid-19 list April 18. The 27-year-old left-hander was reinstated on April 23 and pitched in 10 more games before he was optioned to Las Vegas on May 20. Snead was 2-0 with a save and a 4.61 ERA in 11 games with the Aviators. He walked three and struck out 20 in 13.2 innings.
Tapia returns to Oakland for the second time after allowing four runs on six hits in 1.1 innings over two appearances during his first stint from May 29 to June 7. He logged a 2.25 ERA in four relief appearances with Las Vegas following his June 8 option and has a 3.12 ERA in 17 minor league outings overall with the Aviators and Triple-A Omaha in the Kansas City organization.
Davidson was selected from Las Vegas on June 7 and went 4-for-24 (.167) with a home run and two RBI in eight games with Oakland. He began the year in the Arizona organization and went 1-for-10 in a five-game stint with the Diamondbacks before he was designated for assignment on May 2. Davidson signed a minor league contract with Oakland on May 10 and combined to hit .147 in 13 games in the majors and .306 with 15 home runs and 29 RBI in 32 games with Las Vegas and Triple-A Reno.
Jiménez is tied for eighth in the American League with 11 saves and is 2-4 with a 4.38 ERA and .204 opponents batting average in 26 relief appearances. He converted each of his first 10 save opportunities and had a 0.49 ERA over his first 18 games, but is 1-3 with a save, two blown saves and a 15.63 ERA in eight games since then.
Moll is 2-0 with a 1.27 ERA and .179 opponents batting average in 26 relief appearances with the A’s. He has struck out 29 in 21.1 innings but has also walked 13 for a .301 opponents on-base percentage. Moll did not allow a run over his first 12 games and has a 2.38 ERA in 14 games since then.
