Express Rally for 10-7 Victory Over Isotopes

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (21-17 | 65-47) scored six runs in the eighth inning to claim a 10-7 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes (19-19 | 46-67) at Dell Diamond on Saturday night.
Round Rock reliever RHP Kyle Cody (2-4, 6.59) tossed 2.0 scoreless innings and struck out three batters en route to the a win. Albuquerque reliever LHP Fernando Abad (3-2, 3.86) was tagged with the loss after his 0.2-inning outing saw four runs on three hits and one walk. Express RHP Alex Speas earned his first save of the season with one shutout inning.
Along the Train Tracks:
- Albuquerque put the night’s first run on the board in the third inning when back-to-back doubles from CF Wynton Bernard and RF Charlie Blackmon made it 1-0. The Isotopes increased their lead to 4-0 in the fourth thanks to four straight singles and a sacrifice fly.
- Round Rock trimmed the lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning when 1B Blaine Crim and RF Sandro Fabian knocked singles, then advanced on a wild pitch. C Matt Whatley was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A two-RBI single from 2B Jax Biggers scored Crim and Fabian before CF Elier Hernandez and 3B Justin Foscue worked walks to push Whatley across home.
- A three-run blast from DH Hunter Goodman in the fifth inning gave the Isotopes a 7-3 advantage.
- The Express put another run on the board to make it 7-4 when Foscue and Crim switched places after both knocked doubles in the seventh inning.
- Round Rock rallied for six runs in the eighth inning. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases before Hernandez drove in two runs with a single. A SS Davis Wendzel single, a wild pitch and a two-RBI single from DH Kevin Plawecki scored the next four runs as the Express took over for a 10-7 lead.

- Round Rock CF Elier Hernandez extended his hitting streak to 17 thanks to a single in the seventh inning. The outfielder’s current streak is the longest active streak in the Pacific Coast League and is tied for sixth overall this season. Hernandez also holds the overall No. 1 spot after accumulating a 26-game streak from May 24-June 25.
- Saturday’s win was just the second time this season that the Express have gone on to win after trailing when entering the eighth inning at Dell Diamond.
- Five Round Rock batters posted multi-hit outings on Saturday. RF Sandro Fabian led the way going 3-for-5 with one run scored. CF Elier Hernandez, 3B Justin Foscue, 1B Blaine Crim, and DH Kevin Plawecki all had two knocks on the night.
Next up: The Express and Isotopes close out their six-game set on Sunday evening at Dell Diamond. Both starting pitchers have yet to be announced. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. CT.
