Aces 2019 Roster Continues Growth

The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned utility player Tim Locastro to Triple-A Reno Tuesday.
They also reassigned outfielders Abraham Almonte, Yasmany Tomás, pitchers Stefan Crichton, Rubby De La Rosa, Ricky Nolasco, Braden Shipley, and infielder Kelby Tomlinson to Minor League camp.

Braden Shipley is back for his fourth season with the Aces. His name is painted all over franchise history. He's started the previous two Opening Days for the club, a third start would give him the team record. He's third in wins (21), third in innings pitched (298 2/3), and second in strikeouts (204).
The University of Nevada, Reno product was the first first-round pick in Wolf Pack baseball history. For the Aces, he's compiled a career 21-15 record with a 4.91 ERA in 68 appearances.

Before the reassignment, Shipley held a 4.50 ERA in eight innings thrown in Spring Training while batters hit just .233 off the righty.
Yasmany Tomás returns to Reno for the third time ('15, '18. '19). He was competing for a spot at first base at the Major League level before the reassignment. In Cactus League action he did well at the plate. The righty hit .448 with seven RBIs and five doubles while getting on-base at a .467 mark.
He's expected to bring power to the Aces. Last season he hit .262 in 106 games with 14 home runs, 65 RBIs, 42 runs scored, and 22 doubles.
2019 will be right-handed pitcher Stefan Crichton's second stint with the club. His 2018 was hindered by a shoulder injury as he posted a 10.13 ERA in just 16 innings pitched. Crichton has a very respectable 3.83 career minor-league ERA across six seasons.

Kelby Tomlinson and his recognizable "specs" will be a welcomed addition to the Aces' infield. Tomlinson comes over from the San Francisco Giants' organization after spending his first seven seasons there.
He played parts of the last four seasons with a familiar foe, the Sacramento River Cats. In that time, he feasted against Aces' pitching putting up a .402 average in 92 at-bats.

Utility player Tim Locastro was traded to the Diamondbacks in January from the New York Yankees in exchange for cash and minor-leaguer Ronald Roman. He plays both infield and the outfield. He made his Major League debut in 2017 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He's familiar with Pacific Coast League play spending time with the Oklahoma City Dodgers in 2017 and 2018.
Locastro is on the D-backs' 40-man roster.
Right-handed pitcher Rubby De La Rosa is returning after undergoing his second career Tommy John surgery in 2017. He missed the entire 2018 season while rehabbing. Reports from Spring Training indicated his velocity looked very good touching 99 MPH at times.
He threw 3 2/3 innings in spring with a 7.36 ERA, five strikeouts in four games pitched before the reassignment.
Outfielder Abraham Almonte and right-handed pitcher Ricky Nolasco bring Major League Experience to Reno. Almonte has seen time in the big leagues with the Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, Cleveland Indians, and Kansas City Royals.
Nolasco has compiled a very respectable Major League career. He's thrown for four different franchises over 12 years, last with the Los Angeles Angels in 2017 going 6-15 with a 4.92 ERA in 181 innings pitched.
