Adduci hits grand slam as Hens keep winning

INDIANAPOLIS - A first-inning grand slam from Jim Adduci helped power the Toledo Mud Hens to a 9-6 victory over the Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday at Victory Field.
Adduci was one of three Mud Hens (4-1) with multiple hits on the night, finishing a double shy of the cycle with four RBI and two runs scored. The 15-year pro became the first Toledo batsman to record a grand slam since Matt den Dekker on Aug. 17, 2017 at Charlotte.
The Mud Hens raced ahead to another first-inning lead on the strength of four runs, five hits, and one error.
Toledo added to its lead with a run in the top of the third. Adduci tripled off the base of the wall in center, and scored when Krizan whacked a double down the left-field line to put the Mud Hens in front by a 5-0 margin.
Indianapolis scored three times in the bottom of the third, but the Mud Hens were able to manufacture a run in the top of the fourth.
The Mud Hens picked up more breathing room after tallying three more runs in the top of the fifth. Toledo quickly loaded the bases with nobody out, and grabbed a 7-3 lead when Saltalamacchia drew a walk to drive in Huffman.
