GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 27, 2017) - Micker Adolfo and Antonio Rodriguez each homered, but the Intimidators fell to the Greensboro Grasshoppers 10-4 on Saturday night at First National Bank Field. With two more home runs, Kannapolis (25-22) has hit 11 homers in three games this series.
Greensboro starting pitcher Jordan Holloway picked up his first win of the season. Holloway (1-1) tossed six innings and allowed three runs on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts. I's starter Yosmer Solarzano (1-4) took the loss allowing five earned runs on six hits while walking four and striking out four.
Kannapolis scored first in the top of the second inning when Micker Adolfo launched his second home run of the season, measured at 409-feet, over the right field wall. Adolfo finished 1-for-3 with an RBI.
The run was answered by Greensboro in the bottom of the second, and the Hoppers took control of the game scoring multiple runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings respectively. The offensive onslaught was highlighted by a three-run sixth inning, started by a solo home run from Boo Vazquez. Vazquez finished 2-for-3 with three RBI, a triple and a home run in his second consecutive game.
The Intimidators added one more in the fifth when Antonio Rodriguez belted his second home run of the season, a two-run shot to right center field, at the time tying the score 3-3. Kannapolis added another in the top of the eighth inning when a bases loaded walk to Brandon Dulin scored Joel Booker making the score 10-4.
Kannapolis continues its seven-game road trip with the final game of a four-game set against Greensboro on Sunday night as RHP Alec Hansen (4-3, 3.21 ERA) takes the mound against Grasshoppers RHP Dustin Beggs (3-3, 2.44) at 7:00 p.m. Play-by-play coverage will be available on IntimidatorsBaseball.com beginning at 6:45 p.m.
