WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (May 10, 2017) - Adbert Alzolay took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and twirled a complete game shutout, while Tyler Alamo blasted a solo shot to carry the offense in game one, a 1-0 Myrtle Beach win, but the Pelicans fell 5-1 in the finale of Wednesday's doubleheader at BB&T Ballpark.
In game one, Myrtle Beach (18-15) starter Adbert Alzolay (3-0) stifled the Winston-Salem (12-21) offense, no-hitting the Dash for 6.1 frames. He fired a complete game shutout, needing just one run to help record the Pelicans' first complete game win of the year.

Dash starter Aron McRee (0-5) allowed just one run over six innings of work. McRee's one run allowed came at the hands of Alamo, who crushed a solo home run over the left-field wall in the fourth inning to give the Birds the 1-0 advantage.
Alzolay took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. After recording the first out in the inning, Louis Silverio registered the Dash's first base hit of the contest to break up Alzolay's no-hit bid. Two batters later, Toby Thomas notched a base hit into left field, which put two men on board with two outs. However, Alzolay would lock down the complete game shutout on the next batter, as he forced Johan Cruz to bounce into a game-ending ground out to give the Birds the game one victory.
The Dash's offense came to life in the back end of the doubleheader, as Winston-Salem starter Max Beatty (1-3) shined against the Birds. Beatty tossed five innings of shutout baseball against Myrtle Beach, scattering a pair of hits while striking out four.
Johan Cruz and Daniel Gonzales both reached base with one out singles in a scoreless second frame. Luis Alexander Basabe then dropped in a double that rolled into the left-field corner scoring Cruz and advanced Gonzalez to third. With the bases loaded, Zack Collins laced a base hit into right field to bring in both Gonzalez and Basabe, extending the Dash's lead to 3-0. The final run of the inning would score on a ground out as the Dash grabbed a 4-0 advantage.
Winston-Salem would add to their lead one final time in the contest after Marc Huberman came into the contest for Pelicans starter Casey Bloomquist (2-3). Huberman found himself in a bases-loaded jam with nobody out in the inning, but manage to escape the frame with only one run allowed on a bases-loaded walk issued to Zack Collins.
The Pelicans would keep an impressive streak alive in the final inning of the game, as they remain the only team in the Carolina League circuit to not be shut out this season. Alamo laced a one-out double to left field, then advanced to third base on Adonis Paula's a base hit to center. A Connor Myers sacrifice fly to right field scored Alamo to make the score 5-1.
Myrtle Beach will look to win the rubber match of this three-game series with Thursday's 7:00 p.m. first pitch. The Pelicans will start RHP Thomas Hatch (0-3, 4.85 ERA) against Winston-Salem LHP Tanner Banks (4-0, 2.19 ERA).
