Rosario, Smith show off power for Las Vegas

Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith gave Triple-A Las Vegas an extra special treat Monday.
The top two Mets prospects both went deep, combining for four hits, four RBIs and three runs scored to power the 51s to a 10-5 win over Iowa at Cashman Field. It marked the first time this season that the duo homered in the same game. 

With Las Vegas up in the sixth inning, 5-4, Rosario, MLB.com's third-ranked overall prospect, came up with runners on the corners and clobbered a 1-0 offering from Iowa reliever David Rollins over the center-field wall for his third long ball of the season.

The 21-year-old also slashed a single to right in the first and later scored on a wild pitch.
Rosario has four multi-hit efforts over his last six games and 19 overall for the season. The native of the Dominican Republic is hitting .361 with a .911 OPS through 37 games during his first full year at Triple-A. 
"When we're going over the scouting reports and so forth, he's the one guy that's asking questions," Las Vegas manager Pedro Lopez told MiLB.com in April. "When a new pitcher comes in, he's always asking us what that guy has, what type of pitches. I think that's what makes him special. He listens and he tries to apply it, too. … He took the winter to work on his craft and on his body but also on his baseball skills, and it's showing. He's ready to go. That's a kid on a mission and he wants to be in the big leagues."
As for Smith, the Mets' No. 2 prospect stepped in with two outs in the fourth and smacked the second pitch from Zac Rosscup to center for a solo homer. The first baseman has gone deep five times this season, a third of the way to his 2016 total of 15. He finished the day 2-for-4, adding in a walk and a single. 

"I like [Vegas]. It's a pretty fair park and you still face really good pitching," Smith told MiLB.com on May 9. "The last few weeks have been pretty nice, you hit the ball hard and the ball carries -- it's different than the [Florida State League and Eastern League] the past few years. I've had to adjust to hitting more line drives."
