Josè Briceño's biggest game in four years still wasn't enough to help defeat the Jumbo Shrimp.
Briceno, a well-traveled catcher in the Angels system, enjoyed his best day since 2013 with a grand slam and six RBIs in Double-A Mobile's 12-11 loss to Jacksonville on Monday afternoon.

Briceno, a 24-year-old from Venezuela, snapped an 0-for-14 slump when he launched the slam off reliever Chris Mazza in the seventh inning and followed with a two-run single in the eighth. Jacksonville got revenge when Brian Anderson doubled home Yefri Pérez with the winning run in the ninth.
The catcher got off to a slow start this season, going 12-for-72 in 18 games in April. Entering Monday, he'd had just one hit since April 23.

Briceno originally signed with the Rockies as a 16-year-old in 2009 and has bounced around since. He was traded to the Braves in January 2015 and to the Angels that November in the deal involving Andrelton Simmons.
Briceno was the Angels No. 30 prospect in 2015, but batted .232 with four homers and 35 RBIs in 98 games across three levels last season.
He was a non-roster invitee to Spring Training with the Angels this year, hitting .429 with two RBIs in eight Cactus League games before being assigned to Mobile.

Luis Tejada homered and Forrestt Allday went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Mobile. The Bears overcome Jacksonville's eight-run fourth and led by a run entering the eighth before Anderson hit a game-tying homer to left.
Anderson finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs. John Norwood, Alex Glenn and Taylor Ard also went deep.
Victor Payano (1-1) got the win in relief, striking out three in the ninth,
Ronnie Muck (0-2) was charged with the loss.
