SAN ANTONIO, Texas (April 16, 2023) – The Frisco RoughRiders slugged their way to a 12-2 win over the San Antonio Missions on Sunday afternoon from Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium.
Evan Carter started the game for the Riders (5-4) with a leadoff home run, his third home run of the season, all of which came in the San Antonio series. Carter finished the day 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and three walks.
Later in the inning, Frisco added on when Diosbel Arias singled to the Missions (3-6) shortstop Evan Mendoza and Dustin Harris then came into score on Mendoza's throwing error to make it 2-0.
After the Missions scored a run on a sac fly in the bottom of the first, Frisco answered back with three more runs in the second without the aid of a hit. Carter drew a bases-loaded walk before Luisangel Acuña and Thomas Saggese lifted back-to-back sacrifice flies to push their lead to 5-1.
In the third, Chris Seise plated a run with an RBI single and Kellen Strahm added another with an RBI single of his own in the fourth to move the advantage to 7-1.
Harris then crushed a seventh-inning grand slam for his first homer of the season, putting the Riders up 11-1.
The Missions answered back with a run on an error in the seventh, but Carter singled home another tally to boost the lead to 12-2.
Nick Starr (1-1) earned the win out of the bullpen for the Riders, firing two shutout innings with three strikeouts, while Efrain Contreras (0-3) took the loss for San Antonio.
