With the All-Star break finally here, it is that time of the week when we look back at the previous series and reflect on who rose above the rest to continue Altoona’s upward climb in the Eastern League standings. This week we saw Tres Gonzalez and Luis Peralta help towards this cause. Let's look back at what they did to deserve the honor of being our next recipients of Big Tuna of the Week.
Gonzalez's batting was strong this series as he swung the most consistent bat. Within the six games he appeared in, he hit .313, collecting five base hits and three RBI. Outside of this series, Gonzalez has compiled a .220 average on the season, along with 22 walks, which is tied for the third most on the team. Gonzalez is seen as the organization's 25th-best prospect.

Moving on to our Pitcher of the Week, the left-handed pitcher Peralta has continued to turn heads in the Pirates organization. During this series, he was able to appear in three games and collect a total of three strikeouts while only allowing two hits and no runs in his three innings of work. Assigned to High-A Greensboro to begin the season, he was unscored upon in 14-of-20 outings for the Grasshoppers. Upon his transfer to Altoona, he was able to strikeout four in 2.1 scoreless innings pitched in his team debut vs. Akron. Peralta has not allowed a run in his first 6 outings with the Curve. The Curve will take a well-deserved break this week as they finally head into the all-star break! After that, Altoona will hit the road for another three-game series against the Somerset Patriots, beginning on Friday, July 19th at 7:05 p.m. Stay tuned all season long for more exciting content on the Around the Curve Blog!
