Arrighetti's Six Shutout Innings Help Snap Skid
ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists said goodbye to their five-game losing streak on Wednesday night with a 4-3 victory over the Winston-Salem Dash. Asheville built a 4-0 lead and held on late to even up their current series at one game apiece.
ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists said goodbye to their five-game losing streak on Wednesday night with a 4-3 victory over the Winston-Salem Dash. Asheville built a 4-0 lead and held on late to even up their current series at one game apiece.
Asheville’s Spencer Arrighetti pitched a career-high six innings in his second start of the season. Arrighetti kept the Dash off the scoreboard by scattering four hits without issuing a walk. The right-hander struck out seven.
Winston-Salem’s Matt Thompson pitched five scoreless innings but Asheville did damage off the Dash’s bullpen. Jordan Brewer hit a two-run Home Run in the bottom of the sixth inning to open the scoring. The Tourists then rallied for two more runs on four hits in the bottom of the seventh that included an RBI single from JC Correa and a Deury Carrasco RBI triple.
The Dash mounted a rally in the top of the eighth inning with a pair of Home Runs. Asheville’s Derek West dialed in and retired the final four batters of the game for his second save of the season.
The Tourists will attempt to make it back-to-back wins on Thursday night with the first pitch slated for 6:35pm ET.
