Fried (3-0) struck out five, walked one and lowered his ERA to 0.47 through four outings with Peoria. In 19 innings, he's given up one run on nine hits and five walks while fanning 23.
The southpaw retired the first seven batters on Saturday before yielding a one-out single to Marlins infielder Peter Mooney in the third. He worked around two errors and a walk to escape a bases-loaded jam in the fourth, then gave up singles to Marlins outfielder Braxton Lee in the fifth and Brewers No. 10 prospectLucas Erceg in the sixth en route to his longest AFL outing.
Fried, the seventh overall pick in the 2012 Draft, has rebounded in the AFL after going 2-11 with a 5.54 ERA over 92 2/3 innings between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett. The 23-year-old made his Major League debut on Aug. 8 and posted a 1-1 record and 3.81 ERA in nine appearances with Atlanta.
Two days after recording the Fall League's first cycle in nine years, Riley smacked a three-run shot in the fourth off Marlins lefty Scott Squier. He has three homers and 13 RBIs in seven games with the Javelinas.
Acuna also continued a solid week, raising his average to .378 in 13 AFL contests. MLB.com's No. 5 overall prospectbelted his second and third long balls on Friday.
Third-ranked Padres prospectLuis Urías chipped in two hits -- including a triple -- and two RBIs for Peoria, while Braves No. 16 prospect Alex Jackson singled twice and plated two runs. The Javelinas have totaled 38 runs in their last three games.
