Jameson Fisher broke open the 1-1 stalemate with a solo shot in the third off of R.J. Alaniz. A two-run blast fromSeby Zavala in the seventh widened the margin to 5-1.Brian Clark forced a double play to end the sixth on his second pitch after entering the game in relief ofSpencer Adams , whileIan Hamilton closed the door in the ninth on 11 pitches.
"Fisher's shot is what we needed to get us going," Birmingham manager Ryan Newman said. "Both him and Zavala are swinging the bat really well right now. Hopefully we can feed off that because sometimes hitting is contagious.
Our pitching staff is carrying us right now. We got five-plus innings from Spencer, and our bullpen came in and shut them down. The inning Clark came in and got a double play with one out was a game-changer."
