MANCHESTER, N.H — The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, had their bats silenced on Friday night, losing their third straight to the Hartford Yard Goats 2-0 at Delta Dental Stadium.
On the mound, Adam Kloffenstein (1-2) got the start for New Hampshire (9-10) and struck out six in seven innings of work, allowing four hits, one run and three walks, receiving the loss. It was the longest start by a Fisher Cat pitcher this season, previously at five innings. He has now struck out 14 combined hitters in his last two starts.
The Fisher Cats brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth but Hartford (10-8) righty Dugan Darnell struck out Zac Cook to end the ball game. New Hampshire hitters went 0-for-15 with runners in scoring position.
Miguel Hiraldo went 2-for-4 on the night, extending his hit streak to eight games, which is the longest active Fisher Cat hit streak this season. He now has four multi-hit performances over his last six games played.
Steward Berroa stole his ninth base of the year to join three other Eastern League base stealers in a four-way tie for the stolen base league lead.
Damiano Palmegiani reached base for a 15th time in 17 games played with two base hits on the night.
The Fisher Cats continue the home stand against the Hartford Yard Goats tomorrow afternoon at 4:05 pm. RHP Sem Robberse (0-1, 5.00 ERA) will get the start for New Hampshire against RHP Chris McMahon (0-1, 7.36 ERA) for Hartford.
