MOBILE, Ala. (May 5, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, were shut out 4-0 by the Jackson Generals Friday night in front of 5,926 fans at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Grayson Long (0-2) pitched five innings and gave up just five hits, but two of them were home runs. Evan Marzilli and Colin Walsh both hit solo shots in the third and fifth, respectively. It was the second straight start that Long gave up a pair of homers.
Taylor Clarke (3-1) pitched six scoreless innings and gave up just two hits with three strikeouts in the win, his third of the year. The BayBears (11-17) managed just two scattered singles against the righty for Jackson (18-9).
The Generals added two more runs against Brandon Peterson in the seventh. Eric Karch tossed two scoreless, hitless frames and struck out the side in the eighth.
Wade Wass went 2-for-4 with a single and a triple in his third start in the outfield. It was his second multi-hit performance in his last five games.
The crowd of 5,926 was the largest to attend a BayBears home game since May 24, 2013.
The BayBears continue the five-game home series Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CT against Jackson. Right-hander Jordan Kipper (2-1, 1.74 ERA) is slated to make the start against southpaw Josh Taylor (3-1, 2.42 ERA) for the Generals.
