BayBears sweep doubleheader against Biloxi

MOBILE, Ala. (June 17, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, won both games of a doubleheader Saturday night against the Biloxi Shuckers at Hank Aaron Stadium.
GAME 1:
After falling behind 1-0 early, the BayBears plated the final two runs to defeat Biloxi 2-1.
Tim Arakawa led off the third inning with a single and scored the tying run three batters later on a David Fletcher sacrifice fly. Zach Houchins put Mobile in front with an RBI double in the fourth.
Jake Jewell (4-4) allowed just one first-inning run on five hits with four strikeouts. He pitched the first six frames, earning his team-high fifth quality start. Adam Hofacket notched his fourth save, retiring the side in order in the seventh.
GAME 2:
The BayBears (30-37) plated a pair of runs in the first, fourth, and sixth innings to defeat Biloxi 6-3.
Sherman Johnson went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs in his first game with Mobile. Four players drove in runs, and the final two scored on a passed ball and an error in the sixth.
Alex Klonowski (4-2) allowed just one run on three hits with six strikeouts in five innings pitched. Greg Mahle recorded the final six outs and did not allow a Biloxi (34-33) hit in his second save.
The BayBears wrap up the home series against Biloxi with another doubleheader Sunday beginning at 2:35 p.m. CT.
