BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (August 6, 2018) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, tied the game in the seventh inning but could not take the lead, falling 6-4 to the Birmingham Barons in the series finale Monday night at Regions Field.
For the third time in the series, five BayBears (56-55 overall, 19-23 second half) players had multi-hit games.
Despite tying the game 3-3, the Barons (55-58, 23-22) scored four runs in the final three frames. Two runs came on a pair of errors in the seventh to put them back in front 5-3.
Despite being denied a series sweep, the BayBears still won four of the five games in the series and seven of nine against Birmingham overall. It was the best single-season record by a Mobile squad against the Barons in team history, topping the previous mark set in 1998.
