BOWIE, Md.-- The Bowie Baysox and the Trenton Thunder split a doubleheader in front of 1,874 at Prince George's Stadium Wednesday evening. Due to the postponed June 3 contest, the two teams played a twinbill in the penultimate day of the 2018 season series.

Game 1: Thunder 4, Baysox 3
A Chris Gittens RBI single in the seventh inning proved to be the difference in the doubleheader opener, as the Thunder took game one by a 4-3 score.
The Baysox (28-33) opened the scoring three batters into their first at-bats. Corban Joseph clubbed his eighth home run of the season off Trenton starter Domingo Acevedo to right-centerfield, scoring Anthony Santander.
Joseph added to his RBI total in the bottom of the 5th inning. After the visitors took the lead with a 3-run top of the 5th inning, the Baysox second baseman lined a 2-out single to left-center to plate Anderson Feliz.
Making his 2018 Prince George's Stadium debut after four starts on the road, LHP Brian Gonzalez held a potent Trenton offense to three runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings, striking out four Thunder batters while walking a pair in a no-decision.
The Thunder (38-25) threatened in the fourth inning, putting the potential tying runs on base with one out. Gonzalez beared down and came back from a 2-0 count to strike Mandy Alvarez out swinging. One batter later, Devyn Bolasky grounded into a fielder's choice, fielded by Erick Salcedo, and ending the rally chance.
Game 2: Baysox 10, Thunder 1
For the second straight game, the Baysox jumped out to a first inning lead. The hosts loaded the bases with one out after four batters, and then Aderlin Rodriguez cleared the bases with a triple to right field past a diving Jhalan Jackson.
The first baseman scored two batters later, when Martin Cervenka grounded a two-out single to left field to complete the four-run frame.
Bowie (29-33) extended their early lead one inning later with three runs in the second inning. Corban Joseph continued his hot offensive day by lining a soft RBI single with the bases loaded to score Erick Salcedo.
After Ryan Mountcastle drove in Anderson Feliz on a fielder's choice, Rodriguez sent a sacrifice fly deep to left field. Anthony Santander trotted home on the fourth RBI in two innings for the Baysox first baseman.
Cervenka then matched Rodriguez' RBI total in the fifth inning. With one away, the Baysox backstop launched an opposite-field three-run home run to right-centerfield. His fourth long ball of the season gave him four RBI on the night and extended the Bowie lead to 10-0. The 4 RBI for Rodriguez and Cervenka marked new season-highs for the pair.
Making a spot start out of the bullpen, RHP Matthew Grimes tossed 3 2/3 shutout innings, scattering three hits while striking out four Thunder batters. LHP Reid Love (2-0) earned the win in relief, allowing an earned run on two hits. Tanner Chleborad secured the win with 1 2/3 scoreless frames.
