Beato Sets Franchise Record In Pigs Win

Pedro Florimón delivered a bases loaded two-run single in the top of the 10^th inning to give the Pigs (59-37) a 5-3 victory over the Gwinnett Braves (47-47) Tuesday night at Coolray Field. 

With the bases loaded in the top of the 10^th, Florimon delivered once again as he was the hero in last night's comeback victory with a two-run single in the ninth a night ago. Florimon's two-run single plated Dylan Cozens and Héctor Gómez, giving the Pigs a 5-3 edge.
With the lead intact, manager Dusty Wathan put the ball in the hands of International League saves leader Pedro Beato. After issuing back-to-back walks to Micah Johnson and Carlos Franco to lead off the ninth, Beato retired the next three batters including striking out Ozzie Albies to end the game, as Beato notched his 27^th save.
With that 27^th save, Beato is now the single-season saves leader in franchise history, passing Scott Mathieson who had 26 in 2010.
The Pigs trailed 3-2 heading into the top of the ninth inning, and got a clutch one-out RBI single, plating Herlis Rodriguez to tie the game at three.
Edubray Ramos came on for the Pigs in the bottom of the ninth to try to force the game to extra innings. After issuing a leadoff single to Albies, Ronald Acuña Jr. hit a sacrifice bunt advancing Albies to scoring position with just an out in the frame. Ramos then intentionally walked Jace Peterson before striking out Rio Ruiz and got Dustin Peterson to line out to third to end the threat.
Herlis Rodriguez put the Pigs on the board first in the top of the second, as the outfielder just missed a three-run homerun as he settled for a RBI double that scored Gomez to give the Pigs a 1-0 lead.
The G-Braves then put up a two-spot in the bottom of the fourth inning. Micah Johnson tied the game at 1 with a RBI triple, plating Jace Peterson. Johnson would then score on a Carlos Franco RBI single, giving the G-Braves a 2-1 lead.
Pigs starter Ben Lively pitched well enough to earn the win, however, the right-hander did not factor into the decision. Lively tossed five innings, surrendering two runs on five hits while striking out four batters before giving way to César Ramos.
Ramos issued two walks to begin his sixth inning, but would strikeout the side to keep the game at 2-1.
Jesen Therrien tossed two innings, and surrendered just one earned run on four hits. The run surrendered by Therrien ended his scoreless innings streak at 14 1/3 innings.
The Pigs tied the game at 2 in the top of the eighth on a RBI single by Gomez. It could have very well been a two-run single, but Cozens was called out at home on a very close play.
With the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders doubleheader split with the Norfolk Tides, the Pigs continue to trail the RailRiders by 2.5 games in the Northern Division race.
The Pigs go for the sweep with game three of the series Wednesday against the Gwinnett Braves at Coolray Field. The Pigs will send right-hander Zach Eflin (1-2, 3.72) and the G-Braves will send right-hander Andrew Albers (9-3, 3.27). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
