Bees Can't Solve Loons in Finale

Morgan collects both of Bees' two hits

(Midland, MI) - The Burlington Bees (9-14) were held to a season-low two hits in a 2-1 loss to the Great Lakes Loons (11-16) in the series finale at Dow Diamond.

(Midland, MI) - The Burlington Bees (9-14) were held to a season-low two hits in a 2-1 loss to the Great Lakes Loons (11-16) in the series finale at Dow Diamond.

Great Lakes took the lead first for the second consecutive game. With two outs in the bottom of the first inning, Carlos Rincon drew a walk and then moved to third on a Cody Thomas single. After driving in two runs the night before, Oneil Cruz drove in Rincon with a single to right, giving the Loons a 1-0 lead.
The Loons added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning. With one out, Brendan Davis clubbed his third home run of the season, a solo shot to left, extending the Loons' lead to 2-0.
The Bees would not pick up their first hit until the fifth inning when Brennan Morgan singled to right. Burlington got on the board in the seventh. With one out, Jordan Zimmerman walked and stole second. Morgan collected his and the Bees' second hit of the game, doubling to left, scoring Zimmerman, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
Loons' starting pitcher Leo Crawford (1-2) pitched six shutout innings earning the win. Bees' starter Travis Herrin (0-1) was charged with the loss while Miguel Urena (2) earned the save. The Bees head to Lansing to start a three-game series on Friday night at 6:05 pm CST. Joe Gatto makes the start for the Bees against Patrick Murphy for the Lugnuts.
