Bees Drop Third Straight to Bandits

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (35-46) lost their third game in a row with an 8-6 defeat at the hands of the Quad Cities River Bandits (45-35) on Monday night at Community Field.

Quad Cities jumped out in front early on Monday night. Carmen Benedetti singled and then moved to second on a Chuckie Robinson single. Quad Cities then scored a pair of runs on a Troy Seiber single and a Bees' error, giving the River Bandits a 2-0 lead. 
Jahmai Jones led off the bottom of the first inning with a triple to right. Keith Grieshaber drew a walk to put runners on the corners. Jones came home to score the Bees' first run when Grieshaber was caught trying to steal second, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
Josh Rojas got that run back for Quad Cities with a solo home run off the scoreboard to lead off the top of the second inning. The next batter, Ray Henderson, reached on a single and moved to second on a groundout. With two outs, Carmen Benedetti doubled, scoring Henderson, extending the Quad Cities' lead to 4-1.
The River Bandits added to their lead in the fourth inning, scoring three more runs to take a 7-1 lead. With one out in the bottom of the fourth inning, Jordan Zimmerman singled and then scored on a Julian Leon double. Sam McDonnell made it a 7-3 game with a RBI double to left. The Bees added one more run in the inning on a Quad Cities' error, cutting the deficit to 7-4.
With two outs in the fifth inning, Keith Grieshaber doubled to left. Jordan Zimmerman then punched a single to right-center, scoring Grieshaber, making the score 7-5.
Quad Cities added an insurance run on a Wander Franco sacrifice fly in the sixth. Richie Fecteau brought the Bees back to within a pair with a solo homer in the ninth but the Bees dropped their third straight, 8-6. 
Quad Cities' reliever Cesar Rosado (1-0) picked up the win while Bees' starter Joe Gatto (5-7) was charged with the loss. The Bees hit the road to start a seven-game road trip, beginning in Clinton against the Clinton LumberKings on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. Nate Bertness will make the start for the Bees against Lane Ratliff for the LumberKings. 
NOTES: Zimmerman collected three hits, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. With the loss, the Bees are now 1-9 against the Quad Cities River Bandits this season.
