Bees Earn Wild Win Over Rattlers

(Appleton, WI) - The Burlington Bees (38-48) outscored the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (33-52) in the 12th inning, winning their second straight, 10-9, on Saturday night at Neuroscience Group Field. 

(Appleton, WI) - The Burlington Bees (38-48) outscored the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (33-52) in the 12th inning, winning their second straight, 10-9, on Saturday night at Neuroscience Group Field. 

For the fifth straight game, the Bees opened the scoring in the first inning. Jahmai Jones opened the game by reaching on a two-base fielding error. Jordan Zimmerman hit a slow roller up the middle that hit off the second base bag, bouncing into center field, scoring Jones, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead.
After retiring the first two batters in order, Timber Rattlers' starter Josh Pennington walked Richard Fecteau before giving up a single to Artemis Kadkhodaian. After Derek Jenkins walk loaded the bases, Fecteau and Kadkhodaian both scored on a Wisconsin error, extending the Bees' lead to 3-0. 
Wisconsin got on the board in the bottom of the third inning. Ryan Aguilar started the inning with a lead-off single. After Devin Hairston struck out, Carlos Belonis walked, putting runners at first and second. With the bases laoded, Aguilar came home to score on a wild pitch, cutting the Bees' lead to 3-1.
The Bees got that run back in the seventh. Derek Jenkins kicked off the frame with a double to left. After moving to third on a sacrifice bunt, Jenkins scored on a Jordan Zimmerman sacrifice fly, pushing the Bees' lead to 4-1. 
Wisconsin battled back to tie the game in the seventh inning. Trever Morrison opened the inning with a walk and moved to second on a Gilbert Lara infield single. After Ryan Aguilar walked to load the bases, Devin Hairston drove in Morrison with a sacrifice fly. Carlos Belonis then drove in Lara, to make it a 4-3 game. Weston Wilson tied the game at four with a single to left, scoring Aguilar. 
For the third time in four days, the Bees would play extra innings. With a runner at first base and two outs, Kadkhodaian hit a single to center that was misplayed, scoring Fecteau, giving the Bees the 5-4 lead. Bees' infielder Juan Moreno came into pitch, allowing a solo home run to Mario Feliciano, tying the game at five.
The Bees sent nine batters to the plate in the top of the 12th inning. After Jahmai Jones reached on a bunt single, Jordan Zimmerman tripled in Jones, putting the Bees on top, 6-5. The Bees weren't done scoring four more runs on RBI singles by John Schuknecht and Richie Fecteau and a two-run single from Artemis Kadkhodaian, pushing the Bees' lead to 10-5.
Wisconsin made it interesting in the bottom of the 12th inning, scoring four runs but Juan Moreno was able to get Trever Morrison to pop out, ending the game with tying run on second base. Juan Moreno (1-0) earned the win while Parker Berberet (2-4) was charged with the loss. 
The Bees and Timber Rattlers continue the series on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Neuroscience Group Field. Nate Bertness will make the start for the Bees. 
NOTES: Jordan Zimmerman singled in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 14 games, the longest by a Bees player this season. Derek Jenkins tied his season high by extending his hit streak to five games. Juan Moreno is the first Bees' position player to earn a win on the mound since Mark Shannon in 2014.
