Juan Moreno opened the bottom of the third inning with an infield single and then came around to score the Bees' first run on a Jahmai Jones double, putting the Bees on top, 1-0. Jack Kruger laid down a sacrifice bunt that was thrown away, scoring Jones, extending the Bees' lead to 2-0. Julian Leon then grounded a single to left field, scoring Kruger. The inning was capped off when Brennan Morgan tripled to right field, scoring Leon, giving the Bees a 4-0 lead.
The Bees' offense added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. John Schuknecht started the inning with a double to left. After a Juan Moreno single put runners at the corners, Schuknecht came home to score on a wild pitch, upping the lead to 5-0. Jack Kruger singled up the middle, scoring Moreno, extending the Bees' lead to 6-0.
After Wisconsin got on the board on a Ronnie Gideon solo home run, the Bees upped their lead in the sixth inning, getting runs on a wild pitch and a Timber Rattlers' error, pushing the lead to 8-1.
Wisconsin sent eight batters to the plate in the seventh inning. Tucker Neuhaus smashed a solo home run to lead off the inning. With one out, Trey York walked and then scored on a Gilbert Lara triple. Jose Caus then drove in Lara with a single, cutting the Bees' lead to 8-4. Caus came home to score on a wild pitch, making the score 8-5.
Ty Barkell (1) was able to come on hold the Timber Rattlers in check, earning the save in an 8-5 win. Nate Bertness (3-4) earned the win for the Bees while Thomas Jankins (3-5) was charged with the loss.
The Bees and the Timber Rattlers will continue the series on Wednesday evening with a doubleheader beginning at 5:00 p.m. Andrew Vinson will make the start in game one for the Bees against Braden Webb for Wisconsin. NOTES: Brennan Morgan was a home run shy of the cycle, going 4-for-5. Keith Grieshaber extended his hitting streak to 11 games and Sam McDonnell pushed his hitting streak to 10 games. The Bees set a new season high with 16 hits. Bertness has allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his last three games.
