Bees Sink Captains for Second Straight

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (42-52) put together a season high 17 hits in a 9-2 win over the Lake County Captains (38-55) on Monday night at Community Field.

After squandering chances in the first two innings, the Bees took the lead in the third inning. Jahmai Jones started the inning with his second double of the night and then moved to third base on a groundout. Sam McDonnell drove in Jones with a sacrifice fly to left-center, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead.
Richie Fecteau opened the bottom of the fourth inning with a single. Artemis Kadkhodaian then blasted a home run to left, his second of the season, extending the Bees' lead to 3-0. Richie Fecteau made it a 4-0 lead with a RBI single in the fifth inning. 
Lake County cut the Bees' lead in half with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning but the Bees answered back, scoring four in the bottom of the sixth. John Schuknecht opened the inning with a solo home run to left. Later in the inning, Sam McDonnell doubled in a pair and then Brennan Morgan drove in McDonnell, pushing the Bees' lead to 8-2. 
The Bees went on to add one more when Richie Fecteau was hit with the bases loaded as the Bees went on to win, 9-2. Bees' starter Andrew Vinson (6-8) pitched five shutout innings, earning the win while Luis Jimenez (2-3) was charged with the loss. 
The Bees will hit the road to start a six game road trip, beginning with a three-game series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. from Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Jose Suarez will make the start for the Bees against JD Busfield for Bowling Green.
NOTES: The Bees set a new season high in hits with 17. Richie Fecteau became the fourth Bees to collect four hits in a game this season. The Bees won their first home series since a five game sweep over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers back in June.
