Last time the Bees and River Bandits met, Quad Cities hit 12 home runs in a series sweep at Community Field. Chuckie Robinson kept the home run streak going, smashing a solo home run to left, giving the River Bandits a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning.
Travis Herrin retired the first batter in the fifth inning, but Taylor Jones doubled the River Bandits' lead, hitting a solo home run to left, extending Quad Cities lead to 2-0.
The Bees were able to get on the board in the sixth inning. With two outs, Brennan Lund lined a single to right, his second hit of the game. After an error allowed Jones to reach, Jack Kruger singled to left, scoring Lund, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
Quad Cities resonded by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning without a hit. Bees' reliever Blake Smith walked the first two batters of the inning. Quad Cities scored their third run of the game on a throwing error, making the score 3-1. Daz Cameron made it 4-1 with a sacrifice fly.
The Bees loaded the bases in the seventh inning but couldn't cut into the deficit, stranding the bases loaded. The River Bandits upped their lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Stephen Wrenn drove in Ronnie Dawson with a double and then scored on a throwing error. A sacrifice fly from Marcos Almonte capped off the inning, pushing the lead to 7-1.
River Bandits' starter Carson LaRue (4-1) earned the win while Bees' starter Travis Herrin (0-3) was charged with the loss. Abdiel Saldana (1) picked up the save. The Bees and River Bandits continue the series on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. Joe Gatto makes the start for the Bees against Dustin Hunt for Quad Cities.
