Bees Stumble to Sixth Straight Loss

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (31-42) dropped their sixth straight game, losing 8-2 in the series finale against the Peoria Chiefs (34-39) on Sunday afternoon at Community Field.

Peoria continued their trend of early offense, scoring twice in the top of the first inning on Sunday. With a runner at first with two outs, Ryan McCarvel blasted a double to right, scoring Vince Jackson, giving the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. Juan Yepez followed it up with a double to center, scoring McCarvel, pushing the lead to 2-0.
After Peoria made it a 3-0 game in the top of the second inning, the Bees got on the board in the bottom half. With one out, Roberto Baldoquin doubled to right and then advanced to third on a fly out. Jeyson Sanchez reached on an infield single, scoring Baldoquin, cutting the deficit to 3-1.
The Chiefs built their lead up in the third inning, scoring three runs on just one hit with the help of four walks in the inning. Peoria added a run on a RBI single by Stefan Trosclair and a RBI double by Ryan McCarvel, extending the lead to 8-1 in the top of the sixth inning. 
Jordan Zimmerman opened the bottom of the sixth inning with a single and then moved to second on a balk. Zimmerman then scored on back-to-back wild pitches, cutting the deficit to 8-2. 
That was the closest the Bees would get, losing their sixth in a row. Peoria starting pitcher Ian Oxnevad (2-7) picked up the win while Erik Manoah Jr. (2-5) was charged with the loss. The Bees will start a four-game series against the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Monday night at 6:35 p.m. Andrew Vinson will make the start for the Bees against Tyler Wells for Cedar Rapids. 
NOTES: Zimmerman posted his third three-hit game of the season. The Bees are on their second six-game losing streak of the season, the first occurred May 11th through May 17th. Jack Kruger's 10 game hitting streak was snapped.
