(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (11-21) were swept the West Michigan Whitecaps (24-12), losing the series finale, 10-5, on Saturday night at Community Field. 

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (11-21) were swept the West Michigan Whitecaps (24-12), losing the series finale, 10-5, on Saturday night at Community Field. 

The Bees bats got going in the first inning. Jahmai Jones and Jack Kruger worked back-to-back walks. With one out, Brennan Mordan singled to right, scoring Jones, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead. Sam McDonnell made it a 2-0 lead with an infield single. Josh Merrigan capped off the inning with a two-run single, extending the Bees' lead to 4-0. 
Cam Gibson brought the Whitecaps back into the ballgame. Gibson blasted a three run homer in the third to make it a 4-3 game. 
The Bees got a run back in the fourth when Jack Kruger smacked his first home run of the season, a solo shot to right, making it a 5-3 lead.
Cam Gibson came up big for the Whitecaps again, this time in the fifth inning, hitting a two-run home run to right field, tying the game at five.
Daniel Pinero put West Michigan in front with a single scoring Blaise Salter in the sixth. The Whitecaps went on to score two more runs in the inning and add two more in the seventh. The Bees would not have a base runner reach in the last five innings, losing 10-5 
Joe Navilhon (2-2) picked up the win for the Whitecaps while Adrain Almeida (0-1) was charged with the loss. The Bees hit the road for a seven-game road trip, starting Monday morning in Davenport against the Quad Cities River Bandits at 11:00 a.m. Travis Herrin makes the start for the Bees.
