(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (16-25) scored four unanswered runs, on their way to a 5-3 win over the Kane County Cougars (24-19) on Tuesday night at Community Field.
Kane County jumped on the board first, scoring a run in the first inning on a Mark Karaviotis sacrifice fly, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Jahmai Jones started the bottom of the first inning with a double to right-center. Brennon Lund followed with a double to left, scoring Jones, tying the game.
After Kane County took the lead back in the third with a pair of the runs, the Bees tied it up again, this time in the fourth inning. Jordan Zimmerman started the frame with a walk, bring John Schuknecht to the plate. Schuknecht launched a two-run home run to left, his third home run in three games, tying the game at three.
With one out in the bottom of the fifth, Juan Moreno worked a walk. Jahmai Jones picked up his second double of the game, driving in Moreno, giving the Bees a 4-3 lead. The Bees added an insurance run in the seventh inning on a Juan Moreno sacrifice fly, as the Bees won their fourth straight, 5-3.
Mike Kaelin (2-1) retired all eight batter he faced, earning the win while Cougars' starter Cody Reed (3-2) was charged with the loss. Greg Belton (2) picked up the save.
