‘Big Growl’ Makes South Bend Return This Summer at Four Winds Field on July 14

SOUTH BEND, IN - For the first time since 2019, Real Rock 103.9 The Bear’s ‘Big Growl’ is set to rock Michiana on July 14. The concert is headlined by Three Days Grace with special guests Skillet, and Sick Puppies as the show moves to Four Winds Field. Since 2003, Three Days Grace has staked a spot amongst the hard rock vanguard, quietly breaking records, toppling charts, moving millions of units worldwide, and making history by holding the all-time record for “most #1 singles at Active Rock Radio ever” with 13. The Ontario, Canada quartet—Matt Walst [lead vocals], Barry Stock [lead guitar], Brad Walst [bass], and Neil Sanderson [drums, percussion, keyboards, programming]—continue to blaze that trail on their sixth full-length album, the aptly titled Outsider [RCA Records].

Skillet was formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1996. The band currently consists of husband John Cooper (lead vocals, bass) and wife Korey Cooper (rhythm guitar, keyboards, backing vocals) along with Jen Ledger (drums, vocals) and Seth Morrison (lead guitar). The band has released eleven al-bums, two of which, Collide and Comatose, received Grammy nominations. Two of their al-bums, Comatose and Awake, are certified Platinum and Double Platinum respectively by the RIAA.

The Australian rock band, Sick Puppies was created in Sydney in 1997. After releasing their debut album, Welcome to the Real World in 2001, the band rose to prominence in 2006 when their song "All the Same" was uploaded, along with a video, to YouTube. The video supported the Free Hugs Campaign, which was launched in Sydney, and has since received over 78 million views on the website. This success was followed up with their second studio album, Dressed Up as Life in 2007, which entered the Billboard 200 at number 181.

“After the last few years, we deserve this and we are so excited to be able to bring the legendary ‘Big Growl’ back to Michiana,” Real Rock 103.9 The Bear Program Director Darcy Murphy said. “Let’s have some fun!”

The Big Growl started in 2011 at St. Patrick's County Park which the show quickly outgrew, moving to the Saint Joseph County 4-H Fair Grounds the next year. All told in 8 years they’ve hosted 44 bands with close to 80,000 fans. Previous variations of ‘Big Growl’ in 2018 and 2019 included headlining performances such as Stone Temple Pilots, Theory of a Deadman, Saving Abel, Vince Neil, Saliva, and Fuel.

“With the Big Growl growing into such a popular event it was only natural for us to partner with 103.9 The Bear and bring the Big Growl to Four Winds Field,” South Bend Cubs President Joe Hart said. “It obviously took some patience, but I know that Three Days Grace, Skillet, and Sick Puppies will be terrific. It will be another great night in Downtown South Bend.”

Tickets will start at $45 for seating bowl options. Suite tickets will be available for $50, while Field General Admission stands at $55. Field Preferred General Admission and Field Premium Pit passes cost $99 and $129, respectively.
