MIDLAND – The homestanding RockHounds turned a 10-run second into a 12-7 win over Corpus Christi Thursday night before 5,290 fans at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
Midland has won six in a row and 10 of its last 13 contests.
The Hounds sent 13 men to bat in the decisive frame, chasing Cesar Rosado from the game. Jeremy Eierman had the key swing, clearing the bases with a two-out double on an 0-2 pitch from Colin McKee. Kyle McCann was next and belted a two-run homer to left, handing the home club a 10-0 lead.
After adding two runs in the third, Midland was stymied by lefty Parker Mushinski, who spun 5.0 scoreless innings of relief, striking out nine against two walks and four hits.
Mushinski, the former Texas Tech Red Raider, has yielded just two earned runs in his last 13.1 innings.
Marty Costes, J.J. Matijevic and Norel González each had two hits atop the Hooks lineup, with Matijevic and González recording doubles.
Chandler Taylor (sac fly) and C.J. Stubbs (groundout) both notched RBIs, while Pedro León added a two-bagger and a run scored.
CC aims to stop its three-game slide Friday night with J.P. France (1-1, 5.40) on the hill. Chase Cohen (1-0, 2.25) is slated to pitch for Midland. First pitch 7:00.
