The Biloxi Shuckers, Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, announced a series of roster moves prior to their series-opening game against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Thursday night. OF
Ray, the 2018 Southern League MVP, returned to the Shuckers on July 11 and played in 11 games, hitting .250 (10-for-40) with three doubles, six walks and five runs scored while stealing three bases in four attempts. The 24-year-old was assigned to Biloxi after appearing in five games with the Arizona League Brewers Gold team on a rehab assignment. Ray started the season in Triple-A with the Missions but had two different stints on the disabled list from April 17 to May 3 and from May 23 to July 3. The former fifth-overall pick by the Brewers in 2016 spent all of the 2018 with the Shuckers, becoming the first player in Southern League history to lead the league in home runs and stolen bases.
Aguilar earns his first promotion to Double-A after appearing in 105 games with the Mudcats this season, hitting .272 with 22 doubles, nine home runs and 47 RBI. At the time of his promotion, the 24-year-old led the Carolina League in walks (70) and runs scored (71), was third in OBP (.403) and OPS (.812) and tied for fifth in doubles. Taken in the 31st round of the 2016 Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers out of the University of Arizona, Aguilar also played the entire 2018 season in Carolina, leading the league in triples (9) and finishing third in walks (64).
Olczak returns to Biloxi after pitching in San Antonio. In 24 relief appearances with the Missions this season, Olczak was 1-3 with a 4.95 ERA, tossing 36.1 innings and walking just eight batters while striking out 35. A 21st-round selection by the Brewers in 2015 draft out of North Carolina State, Olczak was a Midseason All-Star with Biloxi in 2018, accumulating a 10-3 record and a 1.44 ERA in 42 appearances. The righty was named the BC® Southern League Relief Pitcher of the Month for May in 2018.
